  • Bell Tower Open Day - Carlisle Cathedral
    A rare chance to visit our tower and bellringing room, see the ring of bells and learn more about the history and activities involved in this integral part of the Cathedral's life and worship. Tours begin at 10am and will take place throughout the day, lasting approximately 45 minutes. The cost is £2.50 per adult. No advance booking - if you wish to take a tour please make yourself known at the reception table on the day. We will endeavour to accommodate everyone. Please note that access to the bell tower includes a fairly strenuous climb of 117 steps and a walk along the clerestory. This is not suitable for those who may suffer in enclosed spaces, or at height.

    Workington is getting ready for its annual community festival, Party in the Park, on Saturday 25 May in Vulcan Park. The event runs from 11am to 4pm with a packed programme of entertainment including live music, a local market, fun fair, children's entertainment and more... All of the entertainment, except for the fun fair, is free of charge.
