    The overall aim of LGBT History month is to promote equality and diversity for the benefit of the public. This is done by: Increasing the visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people, their history, lives and their experiences in the curriculum and culture of educational and other institutions, and the wider community; Raising awareness and advancing education on matters affecting the LGBT community; Working to make educational and other institutions safe spaces for all LGBT communities; and Promoting the welfare of LGBT people, by ensuring that the education system recognises and enables LGBT people to achieve their full potential, so they contribute fully to society and lead fulfilled lives, thus benefiting society as a whole.

    A comedy night is being held in Cockermouth to raise money for West Cumbria Carers. Singing farmer 'the Fresh Prince of Shap' Dicky Dippinson will entertain the audience with his unique blend of Cumbrian comedy. Supporting Dicky is the hilarious Tim Bradbury aka Tiny Tim's Adventures. Youtube star, Tim, has over 1 million followers on YouTube, showcasing his prank calls as a '3 nearly 6 year old'. Hosted by John Lebbon, the evening will surely be one not to be missed. The event takes place on Friday 15th February 2019, 7pm at The Kirkgate Centre, Cockermouth.   • Cub Sport @ Kendal Library
    Independent Brisbane band, Cub Sport, are bringing their own brand of indie dream pop to Kendal Library this February as part of their UK and European headline album tour, in collaboration with Get it Loud in Libraries. The independent Australian quartet have achieved great success since the release of their debut album in 2015. Their latest, self-titled album charted at #1 on the ARIA Australian Artist Albums chart and the single, 'Summer Lover' has reached almost 800,000 plays on Spotify since its release in January. Playing in a library will be a welcome change for the Australian quartet and will give audiences of all ages the rare chance to get up close and personal with their new favourite act. Kendal Library has previously hosted a number of live music events, including Cate Le Bon, Rae Morris and Tim Burgess (lead singer of the Charlatans). The success of the Get it Loud in Libraries programme has earned Kendal Library the title of mecca to both books and music

Walk around our display of 'Moving Images' of Holocaust Memorial Day Trust commissioned project. A collection of five photographs of genocide survivors, with each individual featured holding an object that holds significance to them. Take part in the HMD 2019 Postcard Project to explore the theme Torn from home. Write a postcard in response to the testimony's you have read and receive a message in response.

  • International Textile Exhibition - Through the Seasons
    The coldness of winter, the mildness of spring, the sun of summer or the shades of the fall. This year's theme 'Through the Seasons' has been interpreted by each artist in a different way, with works focusing on one season, changing seasons and even the seasons of human lives, represented through realism or abstract colour and form. All the pieces in the exhibition were originally entered into a textile competition held in the prestigious annual 'Carrefour du Patchwork Meeting', which is hosted each September in Alsace, France. Techniques on display include patchworking, hand and machine quilting, embroidery, applique, painting, hand-stitching using textiles as varied as metallic wool, tulle, chiffon, felt, silk and linen.

    Independent Brisbane band, Cub Sport, are bringing their own brand of indie dream pop to Kendal Library this February as part of their UK and European headline album tour, in collaboration with Get it Loud in Libraries. The independent Australian quartet have achieved great success since the release of their debut album in 2015. Their latest, self-titled album charted at #1 on the ARIA Australian Artist Albums chart and the single, 'Summer Lover' has reached almost 800,000 plays on Spotify since its release in January. Playing in a library will be a welcome change for the Australian quartet and will give audiences of all ages the rare chance to get up close and personal with their new favourite act. Kendal Library has previously hosted a number of live music events, including Cate Le Bon, Rae Morris and Tim Burgess (lead singer of the Charlatans).
