< Return to calendar
Description
Change is happening. And whether it's the fight for gender equality or a desire to halt the climate crisis, the youth are leading it, following the example of young activists such
as Sweden's Greta Thunberg. In this eyeopening discussion, author Lauren Sharkey and a panel of inspirational women will delve into the causes that deserve attention and offer tips on how young people can be the change they want to see in the world. The panel includes: former Miss Cumbria and charity campaigner Claire Bell; Carlisle Youth Zone Development Manager Lynsey Buckle; Carlisle's first Green Party City Councillor Helen Davison; and BBC Radio Cumbria presenter Caroline Robertson. Lauren Sharkey is a London- based journalist and author specialising in gender equality, cultural issues and women's rights. Lauren's book, Resisters: 52 Young Women Making Herstory Right Now tells the stories of young campaigners currently working to improve the lives of people.
