Join us at Carlisle Library during Black History Awareness Month to hear author Ray Greenhow discuss the life of John Kent, Cumberland's first black policeman. John Kent served as a police constable in Cumberland from 1835-1846. Ray Greenhow, himself a retired officer, has researched his early career and describes what life was like for an officer on the beat in Carlisle City Police in the 19th century.
