Starting from 10 October 2023, we're moving to Borrowbox ePress.

What's Changing?

Our current digital library app, Libby, will be making way for Borrowbox ePress. This transition will bring you a wider array of reading options, including eAudiobooks, eBooks, and ePress (Magazines & Newspapers).


Why the Switch?

Borrowbox ePress offers a unified platform for all your digital reading needs. It's your one-stop destination for eBooks, eAudio, eMagazines, and eNewspapers, simplifying your reading experience and enchancing your access to a world of knowledge and entertainment.


Important Dates:

Launch of Borrowbox ePress: 18 September 2023

Libby Retirement Date: 10 October 2023


What You Need to Do:

Download the Borrowbox app: If you haven't already, head to your app store and get the application, or follow the instructions below.


Westmorland and Furness Library Service members can borrow up to 6 eBooks and 6 eAudiobooks at any time from a range of fiction, non-fiction, children's and young adults all for free by using the secure Borrowbox service.

You can keep each item for 3 weeks.

You can download and borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks by using the website, or, you can download and use the Borrowbox app which has a dedicated eAudiobook player and eBook reader, allowing you to search, browse, borrow, read and play both formats.

Logging in:

Once you have downloaded the app to sign in type CUM for Cumberland and Westmorland and Furness Libraries and use your library membership number and password

  • Located on the back of your library card
  • Or within the welcome email of your digital membership application

If you forgot your password, it can be reset online by using your email address or library card number.
