A Private Foster carer must:

  • Let us know when a child(ren) leave their care, providing the reason why and the name and address of the person(s) into whose care the child(ren) has been placed.

Who Pays For the Care of the Child?

The birth parents are responsible for the upkeep of the child. Financial arrangements are the direct responsibility of the parent and carer.

The person who receives Child Benefit must let the Department of Work and Pensions know and that the child is to be privately fostered for more than six weeks.
