Household Waste Recycling Centres - Upholstered domestic seating changes

We are pleased to announce that we are now able to accept the following items at seven of our Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs).
- Carlisle, Flusco, Kendal, Ulverston, Grange, Brampton and Maryport.

  • Sofas and armchairs
  • Sofa beds and futons
  • Kitchen and dining room chairs
  • Stools and foot stools
  • Home office chairs 
  • Bean bags, floor and sofa cushions
Please don't dismantle or cut up items of upholstered furniture.   Any damaged/broken-up items of upholstered furniture must be wrapped in polythene and sealed with tape before taking them to the HWRC. Unwrapped items can't be accepted, and unfortunately you will be turned away from the HWRC.

There are 14 household waste recycling centres (HWRCs) across the county where you can take your household waste.  

HWRCs will remain open with some restrictions in place to protect the safety of our staff and residents.
