Cllr Elizabeth Mallinson was Chairman of Cumbria County Council 2018/19. She was the first female chairman for over 20 years and only the third female Chairman since the County Council was formed in 1974. Her appointment coincided with the centenary year of women getting the right to vote. In her year of office her chosen charities were The Royal British Legion and Jigsaw, Cumbria's Children's Hospice.
