Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service - working with young people

In order to achieve a real reduction in fires, fire related deaths and injuries and the number of young people killed or injured in road traffic collisions, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service has to do more than attend incidents effectively.

We now work with young people in group and individual activities in order to achieve safer communities where young people are better informed about the risks around them. To find out more about activities in Cumbria for 13-19 years olds visit www.wotson4u.org.uk.

Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service currently delivers the following courses to engage young people:

  • Road Awareness Programme
  • Young Firefighters Programme
  • FIRES (Fire Intervention Referral Education Scheme)
  • Schools Safety Education Programme
  • Junior Citizens Scheme
  • Fire Cadets (Workington Fire Station)
