Milnthorpe fire station is staffed by On-call Firefighters and houses one fire engine.
Although the station covers a relatively small area, within its boundaries are sections of both the West Coast Main Line and the M6 motorway. The station has attended numerous incidents on both these major transport networks. As Milnthorpe is also on the Kent Estuary, the station attends incidents involving the rescue of people who have become trapped in the notorious quicksands around the Kent Estuary, and for this reason works closely with other agencies including the Coast Guard.

Milnthorpe is a large market village situated in the south of the County, just north of the border with Lancashire. The Fire Station is located on the main A6 trunk road that runs through the village.
The area contains:
6 Grade I listed buildings and 10 Grade II listed buildings
4 Sites of Specific Scientific Interest
3 Site Specific Risks; Billerud, Dallam Timber Treatment Services and Houghtons Parkhouse Coachworks
No significant Flood Risk identified within the Station area
Although a small area, the West Coast Main Line together with the M6 motorway runs through Milnthorpe's station area, and in recent years the station has attended numerous incidents on these two public transport networks. Although most of the area is rural there is a small industrial and commercial business centre on the old Nestle' Dairy site which has a number of businesses employing large numbers of people. As Milnthorpe is also on the Kent Estuary, the station has attended rescues of people who have become trapped in the notorious quicksand around the Kent Estuary, and for this reason works closely with the Coast Guard.
The table shows the number of incidents that have occurred within a nominal area assigned to the station (as shown on the map in the station profile). This is different to the number of incidents attended by fire engines which are based at the station, as they may attend incidents outside their station area.
