Sedbergh fire station is staffed by On-call Firefighters and houses one fire engine. In addition to this they also have a Wildfire Landrover.

The town has a steady population who are mainly employed in the various shops, hotels, farms and several schools in the local area. Risks in the area include responding to road traffic collisions due to the adjacent M6 motorway. Other incidents include agricultural fires such as barn fires, wildfires as well as livestock rescues.

Sedbergh is a small town with a population of about 3000, and is situated on the county's eastern border and it is a favourite destination of walkers. Apart from the large farming community the town is host to the famous Sedbergh School which forms the heart of the town.


The town has a steady population which is mainly employed in the various shops, hotels, farms and several schools in the local area.

The area contains:

  • 3 Site Specific Risks: Sedbergh School, Shell Gas and BDS Fuels

  • No significant Flood Risk identified within the Station area

In recent years the Station has also attended numerous swift water rescue incidents on the fast flowing river Lune that runs through the station area.
