Testimonials

"Tom is a brilliant author and a very humble man. He listened very carefully to the children's contributions and ideas, and scribbled them all down as fast as he could. The children had lots to say, as this is a very powerful book. It's the story of some of the children who survived the Holocaust and came to Calgarth Estate in Windermere." Jo Goode, Grasmere School

"When Tom Palmer approached me to ask if he could write a book about the Jewish children and their stay in the Lake District, I was immediately taken by his desire to totally immerse himself in the story. We worked with him on this extraordinary book project and he was always full of the same compassion as those who helped the children in their early days of recovery. He was also utterly dedicated to doing the story justice, and I am sure you will see that he has. It is a story from the past, told in the present, with lessons for us all for the future." Trevor Avery, Lake District Holocaust Project

"Guerilla reading motivation at its finest." Jim Sells, National Literacy Trust

"A fabulous, interactive event that had the children clamouring to ask questions on all aspects of being an author and enthusiastically participating. It drew in boys and girls and even had the anti-reading constituent clamouring to buy books at the end. Thoroughly recommended!" Finborough School
