Library Services for Schools - Authors

"Meeting an author, illustrator, poet or storyteller in real life...can fundamentally alter a child or young person's relationship to books and ignite a life-long love of reading." Authors Aloud UK

Research has shown that students experiencing author visits were:

  • Twice as likely to read above the expected level for their age
  • More likely to enjoy and be highly confident in their reading and writing

Here at Library Services for Schools we are delighted to offer a directory of recommended authors, many from the North West and Cumbria area, willing to visit schools in our county. It is fantastic to see such talent on our doorstep.

If you are thinking of planning an author visit we can support you wherever possible with author topic boxes and you may also find the following link useful when planning an event.
