Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service - working with the elderly

Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service is committed to help create a safe environment for all the residents of Cumbria and our older people are no exception. As the number of older people keeps growing it is vital that we work with our partners to ensure the best possible service. In this section you can find more information about the work with some of our partners.

It is expected that by 2025 that 25% of the population in Cumbria will be 65 or over. This brings great challenges to Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and to ensure that we continue to keep our aging population as safe as possible from fire, plus assist our health partners in identifying those that would benefit from early support and assistance; we will continually target this age group and deliver a Safe and Well Visit to as many as possible in all areas of the county utilising firefighters on all regular stations, all Home Accident Reduction Team (HART) members and the Services Home safety Technicians to ensure as many as possible live safe and secure in their own homes for as long as possible.
