Volunteers helping out on a day when Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service cadets joined forces with Bay Search and Rescue.

Our community volunteers are involved in a wide variety of project and activities engaging children and young people.

Community Fire Cadets
Is a comprehensive educational and development scheme available in Workington for young people aged between 14 and 18. This programme has the potential to run over 4 years giving an opportunity for the service to make real differences to Children and Young people in particular the more vulnerable young people who otherwise may not be exposed to good male/female role models at home and may also participate in dangerous activities.

National Citizen Service (NCS)
Is a scheme open to all 16 and 17 year olds in England aimed at helping young people build skills for work and life, while taking on new challenges and meeting new friends. Our Volunteers work in Partnership bringing young people from different backgrounds together and helping them develop greater confidence, self-awareness and responsibility.
