Hate Incident and Hate Crime reporting

Hate incident: This is any incident where a person has been targeted because of their race, nationality, religion, disability, gender or age, or because they are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.

  • Graffiti or Arson
  • Making nuisance or abusive phone calls 
  • Abusive remarks and calling someone names
  • Someone attacking, hitting, spitting or throwing things at someone
  • Domestic Violence
  • Someone making threats or intimidating
  • Sending you nasty letters, e-mails or text messages
  • Someone inciting people to commit hate incidents against others - this can include articles in newspapers 

If you have witnessed or been the victim of a hate incident then please report it. The information will be recorded and used by the Police and partner organisations to provide help and support to the victim, deal with the person(s) responsible and prevent similar incidents happening in the future. All incidents are taken very seriously and treated in the strictest confidence.
