Our Joint Protocol is underpinned by a series of 6 Local Commitments; these are locally developed and district specific documents which interpret how the Joint Protocol will work in each district, mixing elements of consistent practice with local flexibility/details around local partnerships and accommodation options.

The initial response in the case of a homeless young person is the First Contact script or conversation that you will need to have if they present as homeless to you (and that can be used to refer for supported accommodation, support from the Youth Homeless and Housing Officer, housing-related flexible support from a Housing Intervention Support Worker and/or a Nightstop placement).
For professionals completing First Contact Scripts with young people, we have phased out the handwritten/Word versions and ask that you please use the online form. Handwritten/typed Word versions will no longer be accepted.
