We offer a comfortable and safe environment in our purpose built home providing 24 hour residential care, so you can enjoy and embrace your later life. The home is staffed by experienced and qualified people who understand the complex care needs of residents living with dementia and who truly care about providing excellent and dignified support. All bedrooms are on the first floor and have access to pleasant, shared bathrooms with facilities such as assisted baths. We also have cosy lounges and quiet spaces for you and your visitors to enjoy throughout the home, along with beautiful and peaceful gardens. There is a large community garden within the grounds of Grisedale Croft run by local volunteers, a really lovely place to sit on warm days. Grisedale Croft is in the centre of Alston, close to all the shops and other amenities helping us to feel part of the community.
Activities reflect your needs and preferences and staff work creatively to find opportunities for everyone to be involved. We know how important it is to maintain and promote fitness and mobility, emotional wellness and mental agility and so there are a wide range including:
- gardening
- exercise sessions
- dominoes and card games
- arts and crafts
- link with local school
- pamper sessions
- reminiscence sessions
We always respond to the needs and interests of our residents and so if there is something you would like to be involved in from yoga to baking to drama and beyond, let us know and we will support you.
We have a dedicated, caring team of staff to help you with every need. From the carers to the cooks, everyone who supports the running of the home is passionate about what they do and the high-quality care and support they provide. Each person is dedicated to the important role they play in making Grisedale Croft a lovely place to live.

A good diet is essential for health and our cooks are incredibly experienced in creating appetising menus meeting the tastes and dietary needs for everyone. You can expect a range of freshly cooked traditional homely meals all created on site which meet their tastes and preferences as well as freshly cooked snacks. Meals can be shared together in an informal, friendly atmosphere or taken privately in your own room. If you would like to have a family member join you for a meal this can be arranged in advance.
