Our new resource, Bag Books, are stories aimed at children who cannot benefit from mainstream books. Each story is shared interactively, using multi-sensory objects, with voice and emotion rather than words and pictures.

They are designed for children with:

  • Profound and multiple learning disabilities
  • Severe learning disabilities
  • Severe autistic spectrum disorders

They are also hugely beneficial to those with visual and hearing impairments.

Bag Books have been found to develop students' reactions to stimuli, develop turn taking and provide the opportunity to participate in a shared activity, as well as enjoying a great story!

There is also an accompanying introductory training video and pamphlet available.

To order your box, email library.servicesforschools@cumberland.gov.uk

Each Bag Book loaned will be deducted from your normal topic box entitlement or charged at £35.

Further information about bag books can also be found at the Bag Books web site.
