Book banding is a method of grading the reading level of a particular book. This allows children to be guided to appropriate reading material. Not only is it a good way to organise the levels of books in schools, it can also help staff to audit numbers, types of books and the spread of various levels across the school.
Our service includes:
- A pre banding audit - old, damaged or inappropriate books weeded out before banding (if required)
- Grading - books are banded based on the grades published in Book Bands for Guided Reading
- Stickering - each band is assigned a colour and the appropriate coloured label is stuck onto the book
- Post banding review - the spread of levels across classes or generally can be assessed, allowing redistribution or purchase of appropriate stock
- Recommendation - our professional staff can recommend quality titles at each level to enhance your school's stock
