Fay Evans is the author of fabulous rhyming stories for illustrated children's books. Her love of writing started at the age of 8, when she won a prize at primary school for joined-up handwriting. She then wrote a diary every day for over ten years, telling the everyday story of her school and teenage life. Her first job was as a reporter for a local newspaper. Her daughter inspired her to start writing stories for children.
'My "virtual" author visits are delivered live online via Zoom. Each session lasts up to 40 minutes and includes an assembly-style presentation and interactive reading of Fred The Fire-Sneezing Dragon, complete with actions for everyone to join in with. The session features a live Q and A and is suitable for EYFS/KS1/KS2. Each virtual author visit costs £75 (payable in advance) including a signed copy of my book for the school. Alternatively, schools can opt to receive a free virtual visit by agreeing to purchase 12 copies of my books ( £8 each plus 50 pence post and packing).
My "real life" in person visits are based around my latest picture book Bob's Beard. These sessions are ideal for pupils from Pre School and Reception up to and including Year 2. I'm also happy to present to pupils in Key Stage 2, right through to Year 6. My author visits are structured into 40-minute storytelling sessions with individual classes or year groups. They include lots of audience participation, with props and cuddly characters, as well as actions and rhymes for the children to learn, plus an author Q and A. I am also happy to present in school assemblies (EYFS/KS1/KS2) describing my journey to becoming an author and reading my Amazon best-selling book Fred The Fire-Sneezing Dragon.'
Funding Options For In Person Author Visits (2021)
Free half-day visit (3 hours max) with agreement to purchase a minimum of 30 books ( £8 each) on the day.
Half-day visit (3 hours max) £150 attendance fee paid in advance (no minimum book purchase required).
Full day visit (up to 6 hours) £150 attendance fee paid in advance, fee plus agreement to purchase a minimum of 30 books ( £8 each) on the day.
Full day visit (up to 6 hours) £300 attendance fee paid in advance (no minimum book purchase required).
For Cumbrian schools, return mileage is charged from LA5 0SH at 45p per mile and paid in advance.
Full terms and conditions are supplied on booking, along with a book order form for children to order signed copies in advance.
