Age range of audience: Ages 7 to 11
Liz is passionate about storytelling and creativity, aiming to boost children's confidence with enjoyable and interactive sessions. She uses her middle-grade fantasy novels 'Rise of the Shadow Dragons' and 'Dragon Daughter' (winner of the Leeds Book Award and Calderdale Book of the Year) to invite the children to imagine magical creatures and stories of their own. Liz has completed the Writers in Schools training programme with the National Literacy Trust, and holds a current DBS certificate and PLI insurance (via the National Association of Writers in Education).
Sessions can include:
Dragon Daughter Assembly Talk: lucky dip with magical objects to give story clues/Why do we love dragons?/Dragon Quiz/My favourite dragon books/Where did these ideas come from?/How is a book made?
KS2 Magical Creatures Workshop: painting pictures with words, describing magic eggs, colours and mythical beasts from around the world. Children invent a new creature in groups and then individually, and start a story to be continued after the session.
